POSITION OVERVIEW

 

As a school teacher, your primary role will be to provide academic instruction to students and implement their IEP requirements. You will establish a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth, while helping students develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for continued education. Maintaining good relationships with parents and other staff members is essential to ensure student success. You will play an important role in helping students develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving strategies, and study habits. You thrive in an in an environment where student needs come first an are looking for an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of students and their future education.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  

  1. Instructional Duties:

    • Develop weekly lesson plans and instructional materials.
    • Adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
    • Present lessons to achieve objectives and ensure age-appropriate class activities.
    • Set specific objectives in lesson preparation and plans.
    • Create assignments and tests that integrate technology and encourage critical thinking.
    • Maintain records of students’ progress and prepare grades, report cards, and progress reports.
    • Utilize effective displays, bulletin boards, and learning centers.
    • Provide extra help to students as needed.
  2. Specialized Instruction for Students with Disabilities:

    • Implement student IEPs and Behavior Intervention/Modification Plans.
    • Assess and track student academic progress and personal growth.
    • Provide individualized and small group instruction.
    • Maintain standards of student behavior for a conducive learning environment.
    • Communicate with parents about student progress through various means.
  3. Classroom Management:

    • Supervise Instructional Paraprofessionals.
    • Effectively budget class time.
  4. Student Transition Support:

    • Write college/private school recommendations.
  5. Non-Academic Program Support:

    • Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities.
    • Chaperone class trips.
  6. Enhancing Educational Environment:

    • Participate in school-level planning and staff meetings.
    • Utilize community resources to enhance the instructional program.
    • Engage in curriculum discussions and updates.
    • Be knowledgeable in social-emotional programs.
  7. Professional Competency:

    • Pursue continuous professional improvement through in-service education and professional development.
    • Stay current on the latest educational and behavioral strategies.
  8. School Policies and Collaboration:

    • Uphold and enforce school rules and policies.
    • Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
    • Collaborate with other staff members to support student success.
    • Be punctual and prepared for all meetings.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction.

  2. Teacher of Elementary Education and Students with Disabilities Certification

  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
